Highlight and Share 4.3 Released With Inline Highlight Tooltips, Email Customizations, and Block Editor Fixes

Highlight and Share 4.3 has been released with several new features and some bug fixes.

Inline highlighting and tooltips

I’ll be the first to admit that my first impression of inline highlighting is that the items need some context when hovered over.

I decided to add tooltips to the hover state of inline highlighting so that the user can have a better idea of how to interact with them.

To add tooltips, visit the Block Editor settings and enable inline highlighting tooltips.

Customize the email settings

A user requested to be able to customize the email subject, but while I was in the codebase, I decided to allow customization of the email body as well.

There are several template tags that are available to make things a bit more dynamic.

Block Editor bug fixes

The legacy block editor output was outputting null and the InnerBlocks weren’t outputting correctly. These have been resolved in 4.3.

There is also a new option in the toolbar for the Click to Share block, which allows you to customize what is shared out without any formatting.

Future Plans

I’ve updated the GitHub Repo with some feature ideas. One feature I’d like to tackle next is custom presets for the Click to Share block.
