For this how-to, we’ll be using plugin Plugin Info Card and Easy Digital Downloads to show you how to output plugin cards.
First, let’s do a quick demonstration of what we’re after. Here’s a two-column grid of two EDD plugins hosted on this site.
Step 1: You need Easy Digital Downloads and WP Plugin Info Card installed
Go ahead and download a copy of Plugin Info Card and Easy Digital Downloads. You’ll need both.
Install the Software Licensing add-on
The Software Licensing Add-on is Required
You’ll absolutely need the Software Licensing add-on. If you don’t have it, please install it now.
Also recommended is the Reviews add-on so that you can capture reviews. If you don’t have Reviews enabled, you can override the rating when editing your plugin download.
Enable EDD in Plugin Info Card’s admin settings
Go to the admin settings for the WP Plugin Info Card and click on the EDD tab. Then, enable Easy Digital Downloads output.

Edit your EDD settings and enable readme parsing
Head to the EDD settings under Extensions and enable readme parsing. This will allow you to create a normal plugin readme and use it as a source of your plugin information.

Public readme files
The file must be public for EDD to be able to read it. I recommend creating a separate GitHub repo for your readme files and use the raw source for EDD.
Edit your download with as much meta information as possible
Fill in all applicable fields, including the featured image, add banner image URLs, and override the plugin’s homepage.

Also, enable readme parsing, add a valid readme, and fill out the Plugin Info Card settings.

Display your plugin using WP Plugin Info Card

Within the block editor or via shortcode, you can add your download. Here’s an example shortcode:
[wp-pic slug="comment-edit-pro"]
Code language: plaintext (plaintext)
Here’s what you’ll see on the frontend.

If you make any changes to your downloads, you may have to clear the Plugin Info Card cache.

Bonus: Override a .org plugin’s slug
You can use the new EDD integration to override a WordPress.org plugin slug. Just create a download with the same name as a .org plugin, fill in as much information as possible, and add the plugin as normal. If an EDD slug matches, it’ll use EDD instead.
Conclusion
In this How-To, I demonstrated how to use the WP Plugin Info Card to display EDD downloads as cards. Get both plugins below.
