In this How To, I’ll show you how to enable review editing for your WooCommerce customers.
Why edit reviews?
Sometimes reviews are left in the heat of the moment, or a customer may want to go back and modify their review after receiving good service.
This aids the shop owner, who would like good reviews, and it aids the customer, as they have more control over the review they just left.
How to enable WooCommerce review editing
This will be a short section. Just install the WordPress plugin Comment Edit Core (it’s free), and your customers will be able to edit their reviews for 5 minutes. Here’s a demo below.
Comment Edit Core is designed to be a no-click install process, so once installed, you’ll have immediate access to user review editing. You can download the plugin below.
How to enable unlimited WooCommerce review editing
This one is more tricky. Anonymous users (i.e., logged-out customers) are cookie-based, and that cookie is only good for one browser session. This means there’s no reliable way to allow these customers to edit indefinitely.
However, more and more sites are leaning towards logged-in users for comments and reviews to control their community better.
Fortunately, there’s Comment Edit Pro, which allows for unlimited review editing. You need to install it and navigate to the Comment Editing tab.
Once you’re there, enable the toggle under Countdown Timer that says, “Unlimited Timer for Logged-in Users.”
This will allow logged-in users to edit their reviews indefinitely.
I highly recommend turning on comment logging and editing notifications if you choose to have unlimited editing.
How to edit reviews as an admin on the frontend
To edit reviews as an admin, I highly recommend you turn on frontend editing and the moderation panel, a Comment Edit Pro feature.
Once on the frontend, open the moderation panel and edit the review.
Conclusion
In this brief how-to, I demonstrated how to enable review editing for your customers. All you need is Comment Edit Core, but if you would like frontend editing and unlimited editing, I recommend checking out Comment Edit Pro as well.
