WP Plugin Info Card 6.2.0 Released with WordPress.org Profile Badges and Screenshots Block Improvements
WP Plugin Info Card 6.2.0 is now available. This release introduces the new Profile Badges block and shortcode, making it easy to display WordPress.org profile badges directly on your site. It also includes improvements to the Screenshots block, modernization of block internals, and several layout and editor fixes.
Profile Badges Block and Shortcode
WordPress.org badges highlight contributions across the WordPress ecosystem, including core, plugins, themes, translations, design, and community involvement. With version 6.2.0, you can now display those badges on your own site using either the block editor or a shortcode.
.org Profile Badges Using WP Plugin Info Card
The Profile Badges feature supports both static and dynamic badge displays, giving you flexibility depending on your use case.
Dynamic Badges from WordPress.org Profiles
Dynamic badges automatically load badges from a WordPress.org profile using an author slug.
Inserting a Dynamic Block for Badges
When using dynamic badges:
- Badges are fetched directly from WordPress.org.
- Results are cached for performance.
- A loading skeleton is shown while badges load.
- Badges automatically refresh when the cache expires.
This option is ideal for personal sites, author pages, and portfolios where badges should stay in sync with WordPress.org.
Custom/Static Badge Selection
If you prefer complete control, you can manually select which badges to display.
Editing Custom Badges Using the Custom Badges Block
Static badges allow you to:
- Select individual badges visually.
- Use Select All or Select None to speed up setup.
- Display only the badges that matter for a specific page.
This approach works well for team pages, contributor highlights, or curated badge displays.
Layout and Display Options
Profile Badges include two layout modes designed for different presentation needs.
Grid Layout
Grid layout provides structured, column-based layouts.
3-Column Grid With the Badges Layout
- Supports one, two, or three columns.
- Adjustable row and column gaps.
- Best suited for organized or curated badge displays.
Flex Layout
Flex layout provides a fluid, responsive design that adapts to available space.
Badges Layout With Flex and No Headings
- Badges wrap naturally.
- No fixed column count.
- Well-suited for responsive layouts and icon-only displays.
Styling and Customization
The Profile Badges block includes several customization options to fit your site’s design.
- Horizontal or centered badge item layouts.
- Left, center, or right alignment.
- Adjustable spacing controls.
- Base font size control for scaling badges.
- Optional badge headings with customizable colors.
- Tooltips are automatically shown when headings are hidden.

Performance Considerations
Dynamic badges are designed with performance in mind.
- Lazy loading on the frontend if loading fresh badges.
- Cached badge data to minimize external requests.
- Support for multiple badge blocks on the same page without redundant fetches.
