Simple Comment Editing has been renamed to Comment Edit Lite. This is mainly to bring it into brand parity with its Pro cousin Comment Edit Pro.
Comment Edit Lite will continue to be free
Just as with Simple Comment Editing, base comment editing will always be free and hosted on the WordPress Plugin Directory.
Why rename the plugin?
I recently rebranded “Simple Comment Editing Options” to Comment Edit Pro and moved all of the software licensing to this site. However, some customers were confused with the branding and didn’t realize that you must have Simple Comment Editing and Comment Edit Pro installed.
With the rename, it’s more apparent that Comment Edit Lite and Pro need to be used together.
Furthermore, it’s now apparent that the base “free” plugin does indeed have a pro/premium version available, which should help sustain the free version as users upgrade to the Pro version.
Will “Simple Comment Editing” continue to be maintained?
Of course. It’ll just be under its new name Comment Edit Lite. I’ll also continue to support it as reasonable on the WordPress support forum.
The Future of Comment Edit Lite
No new features are planned for Comment Edit Lite at the moment, but it will continue to receive periodic updates, including maintenance releases.
