Photo Block 1.2 Released With ScreenshotOne Support and a Host of Fixes

Photo Block 1.2 has been released. It includes a host of tweaks and fixes and polishes up the ScreenshotOne integration.

ScreenshotOne Integration

I’ve long followed the founder of ScreenshotOne, and I really like his service. I’ve been meaning to create some type of ScreenshotOne block, but it made better sense just to include it in this one. As a result, you can now take website screenshots right from the block editor.

This is a really cool addition. Once you’ve taken the screenshot, you can crop the photo and edit it as usual.

Here is a list of bug fixes and additions that are part of 1.2.0 and the releases leading up to it.

🆕 What’s New in 1.2.0

If your custom link ends in .jpg, .jpeg, .png, .webp, .gif, or .avif, you can open the item in a lightbox. This is really cool if you’re setting up a cover image and want to link to a .gif in a lightbox.

🛠️ Debug Mode for Global Styles

Turn on Debug Mode to make the hidden Global Styles post type visible in the admin for inspection and troubleshooting.

🐛 Bug Fixes in 1.2.0

  • Fixed an issue where Global Styles could save incorrect block info, which could cause fatal errors.
  • I resolved a bug where the featured image link setting wasn’t saved properly.

🔄 Image Block Transforms (1.1.5)

  • You can now convert the Photo Block back to a regular image block.

📋 GenerateBlocks 2.0 Support (1.1.5)

  • Photo Block now works smoothly inside GenerateBlock 2.0’s query loops.

I’m slowly building a list of things I’d like to add to Photo Block, such as a better cropping experience and better-animated gif settings. As always, feedback and feature requests are appreciated.
