Pattern Wrangler 2.3 is out, and it is a packed release. Let’s go over what’s new.

New Categories View to Organize Local and Registered Categories

The existing categories view for Patterns left a lot to be desired. You could only see local categories.

With Pattern Wrangler, you can now see both local and registered categories at once.

Here are the new features in the new Categories View.

  • Delete and map registered categories
  • Quickly delete local categories
  • Quickly edit local and registered category labels and slugs.
  • Bulk delete, disable, and mapping are available.
  • Quickly preview a category’s patterns with a shortcut to the Patterns View.

Bulk-Assign Categories

One exciting new feature, and one that aligns with how I imagine pattern categories, is the bulk assignment of local categories.

This feature makes it easy to quickly organize your local patterns into useful categories.

Integration With Synced Pattern Popups

There’s a neat new plugin called Synced Pattern Popups. Synced Pattern Popups helps you create popups using the WordPress editor you already know, not yet another builder.

Pattern Wrangler has a specific integration so that if you choose to get the display code for a synced pattern, you’ll see an extra option for copying the Synced Pattern Popups trigger code.

Conclusion

Pattern Wrangler 2.3 concludes the UI overhaul to unify registered and local patterns and categories.

You now have complete control over what goes in the Pattern Library.
