Highlight and Share 4.1.0 has been released and it includes a new social network: Tumblr. Please read on for other enhancements and bug fixes that made it into the release.
New Social Network: Tumblr

With all of the drama of Twitter these days, I’ve been experimenting with posting to Tumblr. As a result of this testing, I’ve decided to add the Tumblr network to Highlight and Share.
Clicking on the Tumblr option on a live site (sorry, Tumblr doesn’t work locally) will bring up a modal where you can post to the social network.

This is a nice addition to Highlight and Share as you can share quotes quite easily with the Tumblr network.
Improved Tooltips with Custom Colors
You can now change the background color and text color of the tooltips that Highlight and Share displays when hovering over a social network.

You’ll find two new settings in the Appearance section in the admin settings if you choose to enable Tooltips.

In addition to adding color choices for the tooltips, the positioning and location has been improved to be more centered with the network that is being hovered over.
Improved Vertical Orientation
Highlight and Share has typically only had horizontal orientation for the icons. With 4.0, I added vertical orientation. With 4.1, it is now much more polished.

The icons will stack horizontally if the sharing icons are out of the viewport, and they show up much more reliably than before.
New Email Features
Previous versions of Highlight and Share allowed a user to enter a from name and email address, but concerns of spoofing have convinced me to remove those options.
Instead, the admin of the site can specify a from name and from email address, which will allow more reliable email delivery.

In response to a feature request, there is also the option to use the user’s default email client instead of a form modal. Since mailto
is dependent on the client, this is not the default option as the form modal is more reliable.

What’s next for Highlight and Share?
I don’t necessarily have a roadmap for Highlight and Share, but I always listen to feature requests and bug reports, so please expect more updates as user’s demand them.
I’d like to add more theme customization options, but so far I haven’t received much feedback over the theme customizer, but time will tell.
