Comment Edit Pro 3.9 has been released, featuring a handful of new features (including the ability to block comments), various bug fixes, and enhancements to the shortcuts feature. Let’s go over what’s new.
Block Comments and Copy Email Address in Frontend Moderation Shortcuts
The frontend moderation menu has been improved, adding two new shortcuts: block comments and copy email.
With the “Block Comment” feature, you can select a comment, block it, and add some keywords to the WordPress disallow list.
An additional shortcut is the “Copy Email” feature, which allows you to copy a commenter’s email address to your clipboard, enabling you to email the commenter directly using your preferred email program.
reCAPTCHA Enterprise Added
Google will switch all reCAPTCHA customers to Enterprise API keys by the end of 2025. In anticipation of this, reCAPTCHA has been updated to support Enterprise API use.
The use of the old reCAPTCHA API system has been deprecated, with no plans to support both the deprecated and enterprise versions at the same time. If you need help migrating to reCAPTCHA Enterprise, please leave a support request.
Selector Helper Has Been Updated for Modern Themes
Selector Helper has been given a much-needed upgrade, allowing you to let Comment Edit Pro know about your comment system. This latest update adds support for the Divi theme and resolves some style issues.
Improved Comment Shortcuts Make Managing Comments on the Frontend Easier
Comment Edit Pro now has improved comment shortcuts, makes the comments menu more prominent, and includes some useful shortcuts, such as the ability to open and close comments right from the frontend.
I’ve also added a “View Comments” shortcut at the top to scroll to the comment section on a post quickly.
Numerous Bug Fixes
- Selector Helper now works with Divi.
- Mailchimp Server Prefix is not sanitized.
- Comment bubbles in shortcuts have been minimized.
- Closing and opening comments with a forced status now have overrides.
- Frontend moderation is now enabled by default.
- Frontend moderation menu is now located directly above the comment for better appearance.
- All script console errors have been resolved.
