Archive Pages Pro Released – Customize Your Post Type Archives

Archive Pages Pro Has Been Released
Archive Pages Pro Has Been Released

Archive Pages Pro is designed for Classic or Classic/Blocks WordPress setups needing a no-code solution to manage their archives. Most page builders and FSE (Full-site Editing) builders have custom archives built-in, but not everyone has that available.

With Archive Pages Pro, I added custom post type and taxonomy functionality, author support, and a few SEO integrations. The result is a fairly versatile plugin. Let’s review some of the things Archive Pages Pro can help with.

Customize your post type archives with pages

Custom post types in WordPress typically have archive pages if they are front-facing, but they often require extra template help or settings to customize what goes on those archives.

With Archive Pages Pro, create a page, layout how you like it, and then you can map that page to the post type archive. The plugin has smart redirects, so everything will point correctly to your archives.

You’re able to map a 404 page to a page as well.

Map term archives to pages

Taxonomy archives can be tricky, but with Archive Pages Pro, you can map those term archives to pages to control the output. The mapped page will redirect back to your term archive.

Change the author slug and map the author archive page

A unique feature of Archive Pages Pro is that of author mapping. You’re able to change the author’s nicename (i.e., author slug) and map the author archive to a page. You can do so by editing a user’s profile page.

You can change the default base of authors to a different endpoint to give your authors a custom endpoint.

Add custom fields to the REST API

Unless specifically added to REST, most custom fields are hidden from the REST API.

Some block tools require a custom field to be registered to REST in order to show live previews of custom fields.

This handy tool allows you to enable custom fields with the REST API.

Override post type registration arguments

There are times when a post type is registered, but you’re not able to modify the code to change the post type’s behavior.

With Archive Pages Pro’s overrides feature, you can enable or disable certain registration arguments.

I’m excited for Archive Pages Pro

Archive Pages Pro is available for purchase at $35 a year for a 10-site license. The best deal is The Bundle, which includes a 50-site license for $99.
